RDA Takes Strong Action Against Illegal Commercial Properties on Chakri Road

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) carried out an operation under the guidance of Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, resulting in the closure of 100 unlawful business properties on Chakri Road. A spokesperson for the RDA stated that the Enforcement Squad took action against unauthorized commercial constructions, leading to the sealing of 100 shops located in Mouza Mohra Chappar, Mouza Mori Ghazan, and Mouza Lakhan along Chakri Road in Rawalpindi.

During the operation, the Enforcement Squad sealed two compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, three schools, and various other shops situated on Chakri Road. The team, which consisted of the incharge, Assistant Director Building Control, Building Inspectors, and other members, successfully executed the task of sealing these illicit commercial buildings.

The sealed properties were found to be in violation of approved plans, maps, the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976, and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020. The owners had unlawfully constructed these commercial buildings without obtaining the necessary approval and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

The Director General instructed the Land Use & Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to take decisive action against encroachments, unlawful constructions, and commercial activities, emphasizing that there should be no discrimination in this regard. Additionally, the Building Control Wing received instructions to conduct a comprehensive survey to identify illegal residential and commercial buildings, with the intention of regularizing all such structures in areas under RDA jurisdiction.

In order to avoid legal consequences, citizens were strongly advised to voluntarily remove any encroachments in their possession. The RDA remains committed to maintaining a disciplined and lawful environment within the city.
