Emotion-Filled Exit: Murad Raas Departs PTI, Blaming May 9 Violence and Lahore Advisers

Murad Raas, the former Punjab education minister, has made an emotional announcement regarding his departure from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Raas joins the growing list of PTI leaders who have decided to quit in response to the violent events that unfolded on May 9th.

During a press conference held in Lahore on Friday, Raas expressed his deep distress over the incidents of May 9th and emphasized that mere condemnation would never be enough. Overwhelmed by his emotions, he made the difficult decision to sever ties with the PTI.

Accompanied by fellow leaders including Pir Ahmad Khagga, Raja Yawar Kamal, and Chaudhry Adnan, Raas stated, "We never anticipated that we would part ways with the party." It is evident that the May 9th violence has left a lasting impact on the conscience of Raas and other PTI leaders, leading them to make this difficult choice.

Raas placed the blame for the current predicament faced by the PTI on the advisers of Imran Khan in Lahore. He vehemently disavowed the party's politics of violence, stating, "We do not believe in the PTI's politics of violence." The riots that occurred on May 9th have brought intense criticism upon the PTI, resulting in the arrests of numerous leaders and thousands of workers across the country.

Expressing his vision for a peaceful resolution, Raas remarked, "We never wanted to engage in conflicts with the institutions." He referred to the protests on May 9th as "over agitation," highlighting the need to address differences of opinion through peaceful dialogue. Raas emphasized the importance of working together within the country to create a better Pakistan, stating, "This country belongs to everyone, and we have to stay here. We cannot import people from elsewhere to negotiate."

Furthermore, Raas conveyed his intentions to gather like-minded individuals and form a group dedicated to advancing the cause of a better Pakistan. He emphasized the significance of negotiations and collaboration within the country to achieve progress.

The decision of Murad Raas to exit the PTI adds to the growing dissent within the party. As PTI leaders continue to jump ship, it remains to be seen how these developments will shape the political landscape of Pakistan in the coming days.
